THE BIRD'S ROOM
The founder of Motala Muesum, Hjalmar Flodin, 1869 - 1938,
was a devoted ornithologist and nature-worshipper.
During several years he had been collecting a great part of the birds,
bird's nests and eggs found in the surroundings of Motala.
Hjalmar Flodin gave his complete collection to the museum 1911 and it
was shown as the museum opened the 23rd of March 1913. At that time
it consisted of 160 stuffed birds representing 130 various species.
With a few exceptions they all have a connection to Motala. During the
years the collection has expanded to consist of 208 pieces today. They
represent 163 species.
